AI That Sees Your Yard — Fully Wireless, Even Under the Trees

The S4 is an AI robot lawn mower that maps and mows your yard entirely on its own — even under a dense tree canopy where GPS-based mowers lose signal. 3D LiDAR builds a precise map of your lawn while Vision AI reads the path ahead in real time. It's completely wireless — battery-powered with no power cord and no cables trailing across the grass; it runs by itself and returns to the dock to recharge. And because it actually sees what's ahead, it slows and steers around the hoses, toys, planters, and flower beds most yards are full of.

Different zones different schedules

Front yard gets mowed Tuesday/Thursday/Saturday. Backyard Monday/Wednesday/Friday. Different heights for each because the back gets more shade and I keep the bluegrass taller there. All set up in the app in about 10 minutes. Multi-zone is one of those features I didn't think I needed until I had it. Took one star off because the mower sometimes takes a weird long route between zones instead of the shortest path. Not a big deal but it wastes battery.

Hey Aaron — the inter-zone routing can be optimized by adjusting the zone transition path in the app's advanced map editor. Give it a try and let us know if it helps! — SUNSEEKER Tech

Quick math on the value

Quick math: $85/month lawn service x 12 months = $1,020/year. The S4 paid for itself before the end of year one. And unlike my old lawn guy, it shows up on time every time. Bermuda grass is looking thick and healthy with the frequent light cuts. No more scalping.

Different Cut Heights for Front vs Back

I keep my front yard at 2 inches for a manicured look and my backyard at 3 inches for the kids. No manual mower made switching easy. The S4 lets me set different cut heights per zone in the app — setup took 25 minutes for both areas. Two weeks in, each yard looks exactly how I want. Front is tight and clean, back is lusher for the kids to play on. One rescue when it hit a new garden gnome my wife placed. Fantastic.

Narrow 3-Foot Passage — No Problem

My yard has a narrow 3-foot passage between the house and fence, plus a terraced garden area. I never thought a robot mower could navigate this layout. The S4 mapped the tight corridor on the first try — 25 minutes total setup. Two weeks later, it moves through the passage perfectly every single time. Only wish it could cut slightly closer to edges, but honestly that's minor.

Robot mowers always seemed like a gimmick until this one

Robot mowers always seemed like a gimmick to me. Expensive toys for people with too much money. Then my back gave out and pushing a mower became a real problem. The S4 was my Hail Mary and I'm genuinely impressed. No wires to bury, no GPS signal issues, just draw the map and let it go. My bluegrass looks better than when I was cutting it myself. Swallowed my pride and I'm glad I did.

L-Shaped Yard with Tight Corridors

My L-shaped yard has a 4-foot-wide walkway connecting front and back, plus a noticeable downhill slope. Almost bought a competitor but the S4's 80cm narrow passage spec sealed the deal. Setup took 30 minutes due to the tricky layout. Two weeks in and it navigates the corridor and slope daily without a single intervention. Systematic mowing means no missed strips even in the tightest spots.

Cancelled my lawn contract after one month

One month with the S4 and I called to cancel my lawn maintenance contract. $110/month saved. The mower runs on a schedule, doesn't need gas, doesn't wake up the neighborhood, and cuts more consistently than a crew rushing through 20 yards a day. ROI is clear.

40% Slope — S4 Didn't Even Flinch

Everyone told me my side yard was too steep for a robot mower — easily a 40% grade. I was nervous spending this much on something that might just tumble downhill. The S4's 42% slope spec gave me confidence. Setup took 20 minutes. Three weeks of daily mowing on that slope and it hasn't slipped once. The all-wheel drive is the real deal. Even the incline cut lines look professional.

Great to hear, Derek! The AWD system is built for exactly those conditions.

Handles Slopes with Confidence

My backyard has noticeable slopes, and I was worried about traction. The S4 climbs steadily and maintains a consistent cut even on uneven ground. No slipping, no torn grass — very impressed with the stability.

Pet-Friendly & Quiet Operation

With two dogs at home, safety and noise matter. The S4 runs quietly and avoids obstacles reliably. My pets are not bothered at all, and the lawn stays neat without loud gas mower noise.

solid, minor setup fiddling

Works great in the shade where nothing else did, and the 25-minute install claim was accurate for me. I did spend a little extra time getting the boundary just right near my patio, so budget a few more minutes there than the box suggests. Otherwise thrilled with it.

Derrick — fair callout on the patio boundary; hard edges like that reward a careful pass. We're refining the setup flow to flag those spots up front. Appreciate you taking the time. — SUNSEEKER Tech

Finally one that doesn't lose its mind under my oaks

My last mower was GPS-based and it died every time it rolled under the big oak in front. The S4's LiDAR just doesn't care about the canopy. Cuts the shaded strip like it's open sky.

Skeptic here. It converted me.

I told my wife LiDAR on a lawn mower was a gimmick. Then I watched it map our tree-heavy backyard in one pass and cut clean lines in spots our old GPS mower literally couldn't find. I was wrong and I'll admit it.

love the lidar, app map redraw is fiddly

No complaints about the actual mowing — the LiDAR navigation under my elm is fantastic and setup was quick. Docking one star because when I wanted to add a small no-go zone the app made me remap a section rather than just letting me draw the exclusion, which felt clunky. Once set it works fine.

Isaiah — you shouldn't have to remap just to add a no-go zone, and we agree the flow is clunky. A direct draw-to-exclude editor is in active development for the app. Appreciate the specific feedback — it helps us prioritize. — SUNSEEKER Tech

CES honoree and it earns it

Don't usually care about awards but the LiDAR is legitimately clever. It builds a picture of the yard and navigates off that. Shade, dappled light, doesn't matter. Impressed.

switched from a big-box GPS unit and no regrets

Returned a well-known GPS robot mower after two frustrating weeks — it simply couldn't hold position under my maples. The S4 was the opposite experience from the first run. LiDAR navigation, quiet, and the app map was accurate enough that I trusted it near the flower borders by day two. Quick setup too, maybe 25 minutes and zero trenching. This is what I wanted the first mower to be.

Excellent nav, but firmware hiccup on very dewy mornings

I want to be fair because the core product is genuinely great — the 3D LiDAR solved the tree-canopy problem that sent my last mower back to the store, and the quick wireless install won me over. My constructive note is a firmware quirk: on heavy-dew mornings it has twice paused and reported a sensor obstruction that clears itself once things dry. Not a dealbreaker and probably a sensitivity setting, but I'd love it tuned so I don't have to restart the run. Still recommend it, especially for shaded yards.

Grace — thank you for the balanced write-up, and you've pinpointed it: heavy dew is triggering an over-sensitive obstruction reading, which is a firmware tuning issue, not you. Our team is adjusting the sensor threshold for high-moisture conditions in the next release, and support can enable a temporary sensitivity profile in the meantime. We appreciate you sticking with us. — SUNSEEKER Tech

20 minutes. no wire. mowing.

That's the whole review. Install was under half an hour, nothing to bury, and it was cutting the same day.

H
Helen K.
Why do trees break GPS mowers but not this one

Serious question I had before buying, and the answer is that the S4 doesn't rely on a satellite signal to know where it is — the 3D LiDAR builds the map itself. My yard is a quarter acre with a heavy tree line down one side and my old unit would just wander into the beds when it lost signal. The S4 has run under that canopy a dozen times now without a single lost-position error. Install was well under half an hour with nothing to bury. If your yard has shade, this is the one.

Finally something that works under my oaks

My last mower was a GPS unit and it lost signal every time it rolled under the big oak in back. The S4's LiDAR doesn't care about tree cover at all — it just keeps going. Total game changer for a shaded yard.

C

20 minutes. Really.

Timed the install out of curiosity — 22 minutes from box to first mow. No wires. Blown away.

Great under trees, edges need a second look

The LiDAR performance in shade is everything I hoped for and the install was fast. Giving it a 4 only because along one straight fence line it leaves a slightly wider uncut margin than I'd like, so I still touch up that edge by hand occasionally. Everything in the open and under the canopy is excellent though.

Angela — glad the shade navigation delivered. The fence-line margin comes down to edge-offset tuning, and support can adjust your boundary path so it hugs that line tighter. We're also refining edge coverage in an upcoming firmware release. Reach out and we'll dial it in. — SUNSEEKER Tech

Great under trees, wish the app mapping was more visual

The core reason I bought this — LiDAR navigation under my heavy canopy — delivers completely. Install was quick and wire-free like they promise. My only small gripe is I'd love a clearer live map view in the app while it's building the zone; right now it feels a bit bare-bones. The mowing itself is excellent though.

Michelle — glad the LiDAR is earning its keep under your canopy. You're right that the live mapping view could be richer, and a more detailed in-app map is on our roadmap. Thanks for the specific feedback. — SUNSEEKER Tech

I returned two other robot mowers before this one

Let me save you the trouble I went through. My yard is a quarter acre with a canopy of maples and a couple of pines, and GPS-based mowers are useless under that — they wander, they stall, they beg for a signal that never comes. I'd all but given up. Someone in a homeowner forum mentioned the S4 uses 3D LiDAR instead of leaning on satellites, so I took one more shot. It maps the whole yard by looking at it, not by phoning space. Under the densest shade I've got, it never faltered once in three weeks. Install took me about 25 minutes with zero wire in the ground. The fact that it's a CES 2026 Innovation Honoree makes sense once you watch it work — this is the first robot mower I've owned that I'd actually recommend to a friend with trees.

Robert — this is exactly the buyer we designed the S4 for, and we're honored it ended a run of returns for you. LiDAR mapping was our answer to precisely the canopy problem you describe. Thank you for giving one more mower a shot — and for the thoughtful writeup. — SUNSEEKER Tech
